Massage and Bodywork

My Massage Mission:

I am deeply committed to serving my clients through mindful and healing touch, aiming to unlock their inherent wisdom of self-healing and the integral connection between body, mind, and spirit. My approach involves working with a focused, open mind and an unbiased heart, dedicated to assisting you on your journey towards healing. Furthermore, I offer educational support to empower you to be an informed and proactive advocate for your own health.

Swedish Massage: One of the most common forms of massage therapy. Swedish is not intended to go deep or to be painful; relaxation is the focus. Long slow stroking activates the sympathetic NS, making it one of the more relaxing and sedating form of bodywork.

Pregnancy Massage: Can also be referred to as side lying massage. The primary client is the pregnant woman however, side-lying massage is also used for special physical circumstances that would prevent one from lying either face up or face down on the table. Side lying massage is very helpful for those who have breathing issues, currently doing chemotherapy, or GERD. Mom can be massaged as normal (supine/prone position) for textbook perfect health moms up to ~ 3 or 4 months. However, specialized knowledge of the changes that occur in the pregnant mother’s anatomy is very important. I have been trained in both Pregnancy massage (200 hours), and Doula work (200 hours).

Seated Massage/Chair Massage: (You’ll be delightfully surprised with how deeply you’ll be relaxed in such a short amount of time.)

Some of the mental and emotional benefits of chair massage include:

  •       reduced stress.

  •       decreased anxiety.

  •       improved overall mood.

  •       increased alertness and energy.

  •       massage can soothe nerves, in just a few minutes.

The following categories are used for more medically challenging rehabilitative cases as in Personal injury or massages covered by insurance.

Sports Massage: A constellation of massage techniques designed for athletes (or anybody who is very hard on their body). It's far more vigorous than a Swedish Massage. I specifically address training issues, injuries, rehabilitation needs and tailor each massage that is specifically needing addressed that day.

Deep Tissue Massage: A form of massage therapy that uses multiple tools and deeper pressure to get down into the lower muscular layers and relieve the pain and tension.

Trigger Point Therapy: A form of massage therapy designed to release a specific type of knot, aka the “trigger point” in the muscle. The process itself can be painful, yet relieves the cause of the pain in the end.

Myofascial Modalities: The focus of this type of work is the lining around the muscles, and the interface between the skin/muscles/bone.

Therapeutic Massage: A form of massage therapy designed to work on specific pain patterns, and muscles. I use tools and stretching techniques to help your body “reset” your muscles to original specifications.

How long should I make my massage appointment?

  • The ½ hour massage is usually site specific, i.e. Neck/shoulders, arms/hands hips/glutes, legs/feet etc.

  • A 1-hour massage is enough time for a full body treatment, OR the time can be spent on any problematic site in your body.

  • The 1.5-hour massage is the most common treatment time and is simply a marvelous idea! I am able to thoroughly work each area at a leisurely pace that leaves you a puddle of relaxation with enough time to work on any one specific area.

  • The 2-hour massage is pure luxury or pure necessity. Sometimes 90 minutes is just not enough to get all of your troubled areas; or enough time to finish the unwinding process. Pamper yourself you won’t regret it.
